Privacy policy
Short version: there is no account, your tasks and statistics stay in your browser, the site counts visits with Google Analytics, study rooms run on Google Firebase and donations go through Stripe. The details are below.

Who is responsible
The data controller is Alex, the independent developer who publishes Pomodoro Focus Timer (see the legal notice). For any question about your data, write to contact@pomodoro-focus-timer.io.
What stays on your device
Your settings, tasks, projects, statistics, badges, sound mixes and timer state are saved in your browser's local storage. A custom background photo is saved in your browser's IndexedDB. This data is not sent to me and is not linked to any account.
You can export it from the Stats panel and import it elsewhere. Clearing your browser data, or the site's data, deletes it permanently: I have no copy.
Audience measurement (Google Analytics)
To understand which pages are useful, the site uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited. It records pages viewed, the site you came from, your approximate location (country, city), the type of device and browser, and how you interact with pages. Google Analytics uses cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) and does not give me your name or email address.
These statistics are used only to improve the site, never to show ads. Google may process this data outside the European Union, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can block these cookies in your browser settings, use a content blocker, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Google's own practices are described in its privacy policy.
Study rooms (Google Firebase)
When you create or join a study room, the room is stored in Google Cloud Firestore (Firebase) so that everyone in it sees the same timer. The room stores its code and timer state. Each member stores a nickname (random unless you change it), an emoji, the title of your current task if you choose to share it, whether you are focusing or on a break, and when you were last seen.
Anyone who has the room code can see this information. Your member entry is normally deleted when you leave the room or close the page, and it is no longer shown to others after two minutes without activity. Please do not put personal information in your nickname or task title.
Donations (Stripe)
Support payments are processed by Stripe on its own secure payment page. Your card details are entered on Stripe and never reach me. I receive the payment confirmation: the amount, the date, the email address you enter and limited card information such as the brand and the last four digits. I keep these records for as long as the law requires. See Stripe's privacy policy.
Optional content from other services
Some features load content from other services only when you use them: the lofi radio plays YouTube videos (through youtube-nocookie.com), the Spotify tab loads Spotify's player, and the video backgrounds are downloaded from Google Firebase Storage. When they load, these services receive your IP address and may set their own cookies, under their own privacy policies.
Hosting and security logs
The site is hosted on Google Cloud (Firebase App Hosting). Like every web host, it keeps technical logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, time) to deliver the site and protect it against abuse.
Emails
If you write to me, I use your email address and message only to reply. I don't share them and I delete them on request.
Notifications, children and schools
Desktop notifications are shown by your browser; no notification server is involved. The site does not ask for any personal information, which makes it suitable for classrooms: teachers using the classroom timer do not need to enter any student data.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. Write to contact@pomodoro-focus-timer.io. As most data never leaves your device, you can also delete it yourself at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser. If you think your rights are not respected, you can file a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its date.
